DF11
Pioneer No. 0128
In
order to celebrate the
Pioneers of Communism, as marked by the emblem on the
front of the locomotive, the PIONEER was commissioned
by the Committee of Beijing Railway Branch Office on
25th December 1996. Since its commission, the
name has been borne by three different locomotives.
The first locomotives was a German made NY7 (No.
NY7-0021) diesel locomotive. From 1998 to 1999,
it was carried by a DF4 (No. DF4-2358) diesel
locomotive. Since April 1999, the name has been
transferred to a DF11 (No. DF11-0128) locomotive
manufactured by the Qishuyan Locomotive and Rolling
Stock Works, which is replicated by this 1:87 scale
model.
Manufactured in 1998, the present DF-11 PIONEER
locomotive is driven by a 16V280ZJA diesel engine with
a maximum operating power of 3610 kW. The
locomotive is also equipped with computer controls,
magnetic valve/air brake and dynamic brake systems.
Its bogies are designed for quasi-high speed
operation. The body is of bearing type structure
where the cab head portion is streamlined, allowing it
to operate a maximum cruising speeds of 167 km/h and
143 km/h when hauling 12 passenger cars (totalling 640
tons) and 20 passenger cars (totalling 1,100 tons)
respectively on level track.
